Potrero / Flamingo Beach
is located in the
Guanacaste Province,
which is the Northwestern Pacific side of the country.
You can reach Potrero from either of the two major airports
in Costa Rica.
Liberia (LIR)
This airport is located about 45 minutes from
Potrero.
San José - Juan Santa Maria Airport (SJO):
This airport is located about 5 hours by car from Potrero.
However from the San Jose airport you can take a 45
minute commuter flight to the Tamarindo Airstrip which
is located about 15 minutes from Flamingo by car or
taxi.

From the Liberia International Airport:
turn Right from the airport entrance on Rt. 21 and Continue
South through Comunidad to Belén. The Road between
the airport and Belén is well paved and passes
through sugar cane farms and there are small towns along
the way.
You will also pass Do It Center and some other stores
in a group. You'll find abundant places to stop for
a cold drink and snacks. Caution; Costa Ricans' drive
like maniacs! They also have a habit of walking along
the edge of the road. Belén is a well marked
and busy three way intersection. You'll see a new commercial
strip with gas station on the Southwest corner and a
lot of signs indicating to turn right for Tamarindo,
Potrero, Huacas, Brasilito and other towns.
Turn Right and follow signs to Flamingo, Huacas and
Tamarindo. Huacas is a small commercial area at the
base of a hill that you will have just descended. At
Huacas continue straight, passing the left turn to Playa
Tamarindo and take the next right turn and follow signs
to Brasilito, Flamingo and Playa Potrero.
At Brasilito, follow main road to Flamingo, slow down
for the speed bumps and follow the road as it takes
a 90 degree right turn. On the right you'll see the
Happy Snapper Restaurant. In a few miles, as you drive
near to Playa Flamingo you will see a new Bank (
Banco
Nacional) on the left hand side of the road
and just beyond that, a fork in the road.
There is a two story office at the intersection with
a sign for "Alegria" development. Take the
gentle turn to the right onto the unpaved road. You
will pass over a small one lane bridge. Next you will
see Surfside Supermercado grocery store on the right.
Keep going.
At the next intersection El Castillo restaurant is on
the corner. Turn right. The office is on one block on
the right hand side.
